Joris started his career at Van Benthem & Keulen in Utrecht in 2013. He joined Florent in 2018. He is a senior associate in the Restructuring & Insolvency practice.
Expertise
Joris provides counsel to stakeholders of businesses facing imminent or actual bankruptcies. He also advises clients on debt restructurings, securities, and directors’ liability, and has specific expertise in restarts (doorstarts) out of bankruptcy.
Joris is frequently appointed by the District Court of Amsterdam as a receiver and has extensive experience managing large-scale moratoriums and bankruptcies. As an expert on the Dutch Act on the Confirmation of Private Restructuring Plans (WHOA), he is available to serve as a restructuring expert (herstructureringsdeskundige) and observer (observator).

Joris speaks Dutch and English. He obtained his post-graduate degree (Grotius) in insolvency law. Joris is a member of INSOLAD and INSOL Europe and is one of the authors of the Dutch chapter of the ‘Chambers Global Practice Guide on Insolvency 2023’
